The new i40 will go on display at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2011 and, in what has to be something of a break with automotive tradition, the first i40 model to hit the showroom floors will be the wagon. A sedan version will be available later in the year.
Releasing a wagon as the first model in the i40 range is an interesting move. Perhaps there’s more demand for wagons in Europe than there is in Australia.
Designed at Hyundai’s European R&D facilities in Rüsselsheim, Germany, the all-new i40 is Hyundai’s first mid-sized model to be specifically developed for the European market.
Despite the fact that the i40 is designed for a specific market it will still feature Hyundai’s ‘fluidic sculpture’ design language, featuring the company’s signature hexagonal front grille and rakish-lines, giving the i40 a dynamic, sporty appearance by connecting the front, side and rear profiles.
