You have to feel just a little bit sorry for Toyota right now. Not only is it suffering from vastly reduced sales figures thanks to the global financial crisis but now it’s been bitten quite severely by the recall bug.
In China Toyota is to recall 688,314 vehicles including Yaris hatchbacks, Camry sedans, Corolla sedans and Vios sedans … more than a year’s worth of production in China … to repair a faulty window switch. The defect is said to be quite minor but recalling that many vehicles is going to cost a lot of money.
But 688,314 vehicles pales into insignificance when compared to the Toyota recall that seems to be on in the United States. In breaking news this morning Toyota is reported to be on the verge of recalling 3.8 million vehicles in the United States.
