It seems that a deal has been signed that will allow China’s Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co. (BAIC) to take control of Saab. Under the terms of the deal BAIC now has the rights and access to the tools to build the Saab 9-3 and 9-5 models and to include Saab engines and transmissions in several of BAIC’s own production vehicles.
It seems unlikely that the Saab production line will remain in Sweden and it will be interesting to see what the news of BAIC’s takeover of Saab will do for demand. Would you want to pay a premium price for a car that may not have much resale value?
