GM announced today that the sale of Saab Automobile AB would not be concluded and so production will be halted and the company will be wound down during January.
The reported sale of tooling and power-train technology to the Beijing Automotive Industry Holdings Co. reported here will still go ahead but it does not include the sale of the Saab name.
GM has said that Saab will continue to honour warranties and provide service and spare parts to current Saab owners. Production of the new Saab 9-5 will cease and the model will not reach the showroom.
Here in Australia Saab maintains a small dealer network in each state.
