Word is out that Daewoo and General Motors are testing an electric Cruze and will soon have a small fleet of them undergoing testing in Seoul.
Reports that we’ve seen here at Aussie Motoring suggest that in less than a year Daewoo and GM have brought the electric Cruze from an idea to being on the road with a range of around 160km. Of course you can expect that something that has been developed so quickly will have some problems and the electric Cruze is no exception.
Charging time seems to be the achilles heel of the electric Cruze because at the moment it’s got to stay plugged into a power outlet for 8 to 10 hours but Daewoo and GM expect to have some fast-charge alternatives available before the electric Cruze goes into full production.
GM have a number of other electric irons in the fire so this may not be the electric car we see in Holden showrooms in Australia but there’s a good chance that it will be.
