If you’re looking for a new car that makes a big, bold statement then one of the few remaining cars that will do that for you is the Chrysler 300.
It’s certainly not everyone’s cup of tea and some may think that it’s a little too big and bold but it certainly sells well in Australia.
And for those who find the Chrysler 300 a little on the conservative side … those who want to make an even bigger and bolder statement … we now have the Chrysler 300S.
From its 20-inch gloss black alloy wheels to its bright red leather upholstery there’s nothing subdued or under-stated about the Chrysler 300S
The exterior
On the outside Chrysler has taken the standard 300 body and added a black chrome grill with platinum surround, black headlamp bezels, body-coloured door handles and side mirrors, a boot lip spoiler and badging with black accents.
The interior
If you can look beyond the bright red upholstery … why bother with red highlights when you can just splash that colour all over the upholstery … you will find that the centre console, steering wheel and door panels are finished in Piano Black. The burl wood highlights found in the standard 300 range have been replaced with a matte carbon hydrographic accents in the 300S.
Other unique additions to the interior include sports pedals and heated sports front seats.
The Chrysler 300S also comes with bi-xenon headlamps with automatic high beam control, rain-sensing windscreen wipers, heated and cooled front cup holders and heated rear seats.
There’s also a memory system for the driver’s seat, exterior mirrors, steering column and radio. A navigation system and reversing camera are incorporated in the 8.4-inch screen at the top of the centre stack.
The engine
The Chrysler 300S is powered by Chrysler’s 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine that produces 210kW of power and 340Nm of torque. This engine is coupled to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters on the steering wheel.
The bottom line
And if the Chrysler 300S makes the statement that’s right for you then you can have one for just $47,500 plus dealer delivery and government charges.
Actually that’s not such a bad price for what you get … although not everyone wants to make that much of a statement when they’re driving down the road.
