Holden will soon be writing to the owners of 8792 Commodores to notify them of a potential defect in the driver’s side airbag.
According to the recall notice “The driver’s side airbag attachment within the seat assembly may not be to specification and may allow the side airbag to become detatched.”
According to one newspaper report the driver’s side airbag of some affected vehicles has been known to deploy as the driver gets out of the car.
The affected vehicles were all built at Holden’s Adelaide plant during 2005 and the models involved include Esecutive, SV6, SS, Berlina, Adventra, Crewman and HSV Avalance XUV. The VIN range of these vehicles is 6G1Z######L393152 to 6G1Z######L477054
