In the United States Ford reports that their sales are down by over 40% in February and GM’s sales are down by 53% … in Sweden car sales in February are down by over 31% with only 14.603 cars sold and no storage space remaining for new cars. Toyota is begging for a bailout from the Japanese government and the other Japanese makers must be thinking of doing the same.
The February sales figures for Australia are due out in the next day or so but the signs are not good. Holden is planning on cutting another 10 days of production from their Adelaide plant so obviously big cars are not moving off the lots as fast as the manufacturers would hope.
Yet there is still some hope out there in the global market place. Kia recently announced an increase in global sales in January … something that no other car company was able to achieve.
