Later this month Ford in the United States will begin to recall around 4.5 million vehicles because of a faulty cruise control switch. The vehicles to be recalled include Windstars, Excursion diesels, F Series diesels, Econolines, Explorers, Mercury Mountaineers, Rangers and F35 Motorhomes and involve vehicles built between 1992 and 2003 although not all year models in that time-span are included.
The faulty switch can cause fires and, while only 1.1 million vehicles are know to have the switch fitted the additional 3.4 million vehicles are being recalled in an effort to reassure customers that their vehicles are safe.
