Should we be surprised by the news currently coming out of Detroit that Ford is likely to end production of an Australian designed Falcon?
Not really … as soon as Ford started talking about it’s One Ford programme the writing was on the wall for the Falcon. It’s not selling in huge numbers so why invest hundreds of millions of dollars in all the design work that goes into the production of a new model? It’s going to be much cheaper to just rebadge and swap driving positions in something like a Taurus.
It’s sad to see the Falcon disappear but Ford fans can take heart … you can bet GM are seriously thinking about doing something similar to the Holden Commodore.
