Short-Wheel Base Landrover to Return in 2010

Yet another short-wheel base SUV will appear on the Australian market within the next few months with the return of the Landrover’s Defender 90.

This short-wheel based version of the Landrover Defender was last on the market in Australia in 2006 but it will be back with a six-speed manual transmission coupled to a 2.4L turbo diesel and have such creature comforts as air-conditioning. Fuel economy is expected to be around 10L/100km.

Forty years ago I owned a fairly battered Mk1 Land Rover and it’s good to see those classic Land Rover lines still around today but airconditioning? I wonder if it still comes with the hand throttle?
