It seems that GM’s sale of Hummer to the Chinese company Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machines is off. General Motors gave no reason for the sale going sour but there are some suggestions on the Web that the Chinese Government intervened to stop the deal.
GM now says that it will begin the orderly wind-down of the Hummer operations.
Of course that doesn’t mean that Hummer is dead and buried just yet. We went through the whole wind-down scenario with Saab only to find that at the last minute GM were still prepared to do a deal if the price was right.
