While General Motors are busy announcing the Chevrolet Aveo … the replacement for the Barina … here in Australia Holden are busy announcing a new addition to the current Holden Barina range.
The all-new Barina Spark … a 1.2-litre five-door hatch … will make its first appearance at the Australian International Motorshow in Sydney this week.
The Barina Spark CD and CDX come equipped with sports body kit, alloy wheels, fog lamps and a rear spoiler as standard equipment. Both versions are powered by a 1.2-litre double overhead cam four-cylinder engine linked to a five-speed manual transmission that uses just 5.6L/100km
Safety features include Electronic Stability Control (ESC), incorporating anti-lock braking, brake assist, electronic brakeforce distribution and traction control. Occupants are protected by a total of six airbags – dual front, front side impact and full-length curtain airbags.
On the outside hidden rear-door handles tend to trick the eye into thinking that you’re looking at a three-door hatch while on the inside the instrument cluster is said to be inspired by what you might find on a motor cycle. This type of instrument cluster has been carried over to the Aveo.
Holden will announce pricing and full specs for the Barina Spark at the Sydney Motor Show.
