Earlier this week Holden announced the release of Barina Spark – a 1.2-litre five-door hatch city car that’s a little smaller than the other models in the Barina range. You can read more of the information and see an interior photo that was provided at the time of that initial announcement here.
Today Holden released even more information about equipment and pricing levels for the Barina Spark and it’s obvious that Holden wants to claim a big chunk of the light-car segement.
Barina Spark CD
The Barina Spark will be available in two versions that will share the same 1.2-litre petrol engine coupled to a five-speed manual transmission. The entry level Barina Spark CD will come with features that include:
- 14-inch alloy wheels
- sports body kit
- front fog lamps
- rear spoiler
- heated power adjustable mirrors
- air conditioning
- power steering
- power front windows
- four-way adjustable driver and front passenger seat
- four-speaker AM?FM audio system with CD player, iPod/iPhone and MP3 player input
- steering wheel-mounted autio controls
- remote keyless entry and remote central locking
- security immobiliser
- plenty of storage throughout the vehicle
- Cloth upholstered seats
Barina Spark CDX
The Spark CDX will include all of the above plus:
- 15-inch alloy wheels
- larger rear body-coloured spoiler
- rear powered windows
- Sportec upholstery and trim
Safety
Both the Barina Spark CD and the Barina Spark CDX come with dual front, front side impact and full-length curtain airbags as well as electronic stability control that incorporates an anti-locking braking system, brake assist, electronic brakeforce distribution and traction control.
Luggage space
Both models in the Barina Spark range are fitted with 60/40 split-fold rear seats that increase the 170-litre luggage space to 580-litres when the rear seat is completely folded down.
Price
The recommended retail price for the Barina Spark CD is $12,490 and $13,990 for the Spark CDX. These prices do not include statutory and dealer charges.
