Porsche to Buy a Truck Company it Doesn’t Want?

Now those of us who have driven a Scania truck or bus at some time in our lives know that they’re a fairly decent piece of machinery … and even the non-turbo versions can really motor … but just how much better might they go if Porsche was involved?

Well it’s probably never going to happen but Porsche is about to make an offer for all the shares that it doesn’t own in Scania … all because Porsche has now bought a controlling interest in Volkswagen.

You see, VW is the major shareholder in Scania … a Swedish firm … and Swedish law now requires Porsche to make an offer for all Scania shares that it doesn’t control. Sadly for Scania drivers Porsche obviously has no real interest in heavy trucks and so it isn’t in a hurry to make an offer that would be attractive to anyone who holds those remaining Scania shares.
